Welcome to the world of organizational design! Although it overlaps in some areas with organizational development, it’s actually a different field. Organizational design involves creating structures that align roles, workflows, processes and people with the values, mission, and objectives of an organization. By focusing on job design, departmentation, delegation, span of control and chain of command, solid organizational design can provide the structure and framework for an organization to deliver its core qualities while limiting productivity and performance issues.
This workshop is designed to educate organizational development practitioners on the intricacies of organizational design. In this session you will:
Understand the differences between organizational design and organizational development
Discover that you actually have more experience in analyzing organizational design than you might believe
Understand the difference between organizational design and organizational structure
Evaluate the real world applications and implications of organizational design choices by working through a model for organizational assessment
Understanding the basics of organizational design will help you as an organizational development practitioner support organizations going through design changes with their change management, facilitation and coaching needs by providing you a functional basis of understanding of the challenges they may be facing.
